Award News: 31st Physiology Awards Night
April 22nd, 2021 - Congratulations to all our award winners from the 31st Physiology Awards Night. Dr. Alexandra Naba was the receipient of the Philip K Hawley Distinguished Faculty Award. PhD candidates Anthony Arena and Taliha Nadeem won the Mark R Lambrecht and Kate Barany Graduate Student Awards, respectively. The Inaugral John and Kathy Endowed Graduate Fellowship was awarded to PhD Candidate Kristen Lednovich. Further information on the Fellowship may be found here.

April 19th, 2021 - Congratulations to Dr. Naba for her latest paper entitled "Fabrication, Rheological and Compositional Characterization of Thermoresponsive Hydrogel from Cornea", published in Tissue Engineering Part C. This study was conducted in collaboration with Dr. Djalilian and Dr. Rosenblatt from the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at UIC, and Dr. Shokuhfar from the UIC Department of Bioengineering. Publication News: Jiang Lab
March 15th, 2021 - Congratulations to Dr. Jiang and her team for their publication “Progenitor-like characteristics in a subgroup of UCP1+ cells within white adipose tissue” in Developmental Cell, Feb 2021. Beige adipocytes were considered post-mitotic. This study raises the possibility that new beige adipocytes can emerge by proliferation of existing beige adipocytes. Read the full article here.
