Publication News: Frasor Lab

December 13th, 2022 - Congratulations to Dr. Frasor and her team for their latest article entitled "Identification of a novel ER-NFĸB-driven stem-like cell population associated with relapse of ER+breast tumors" published in the Breast Cancer Research journal. This work provides using single-cell RNA sequencing, we identified a novel quiescent stem-like cell population that is driven by ER and NFĸB in multiple ER+ breast cancer models. Moreover, we found that a gene signature derived from this stem-like population is expressed in primary ER+ breast tumors, endocrine therapy-resistant and metastatic cell populations and predictive of poor patient outcome. Publication News: Liew Lab

November 29th, 2022 - Congratulations Dr. Liew and his team for their latest article entitled "Secreted EMC10 is upregulated in human obesity and its neutralizing antibody prevents diet-induced obesity in mice" published in Nature Communications. In this work, we use studies in cells, mice and humans to demonstrate that scEMC10 is a previously unrecognized circulating inhibitor of adipose tissue thermogenic capacity and a potential therapeutic target for obesity and its complications. Publication News: Naba Lab

November 21st, 2022 - Congratulations to Dr. Naba and her team for their latest article entitled "MatrisomeDB 2.0: 2023 updates to the ECM-protein knowledge database" published in Nucleic Acids Research. In this manuscript, the team reports new developments to the MatrisomeDB, including its horizontal expansion to include ECM proteomic profiles of 24 new tissues, enhanced data visualization via peptide and post-translational modification mapping onto 2D domain-based representation and 3D structures of extracellular matrix and extracellular-matrix-associated proteins, and extensive cross-referencing to external resources to further facilitate the re-use of ECM proteomic studies by the scientific community. Publication News: Kazlauskas Lab

November 3rd, 2022 - Congratulations to Dr. Kazlaukas and his team for their latest article entitled “Hyperglycemia Promotes Mitophagy and Thereby Mitigates Hyperglycemia-Induced Damage” published in the American Journal of Pathology. This work provides insight on how cells within retinal blood vessels are endowed with a previously unappreciated ability to acquire resistance against the damaging effects of hyperglycemia, which drives development of complications such as retinopathy in patients with diabetes. This endogenous system that protects from the deleterious effects of diabetes is a plausible explanation of the long delay between the onset of diabetes and development of diabetic retinopathy..
